At Gamescom in Cologne I had the opportunity to play a 6 vs. 6 scenario at the Star-Labs Base in Australia. I had enought time to try different characters and was supported by Ryan Peters and Grayson Chalmers. The gameplay has improved much since last year. Controling yoru character with keyboard and mouse was very intuitive and without any glitches which was the biggest improvment since last year.
I never felt that I lost my bearings, which can happen fast in a PvP fight. I had to get used to the fighting itself because I’m used to standard MMORPG fights, but I got the hang of it pretty fast and after I got some training it was hard to get me away from the demo machines. Again, I have to say that I’m not a PvP player and I normally don’t like actiongames.

The graphics too where improved from last year, unfortunatly my camera is note made for those kind of pics so I can’t provide any examples. The charactermodels looked great and the animations where superb. I played an “capture and hold” scenario where Heros battles Villians. There where 3 locations you had to capture and hold and then the other side would loose points.

I could also ask some questions and here are some infos:
- There will be different servers for northamerica and europe. Perhaps even one (or more) server per country in europe.
- Open Beta will start soon. The version I saw at gamescom was not the newest build.
- The Comic series will be published bi-weekly and for now there are 6 issues planed.
- The cost will be $ 14.99 per month. For now there will be no micropayment.
- There will be no crafting.
- There will be trading and a marketplace in game.

Jens Anderson tells us that there is something going on with the GL rings. Have a look at the video here.
Apparently he is talking about an encounter for groups and he even mentions Kilowog and Arkillo.

San Diego Comic Con News

The guys over at the DCUO Source have a real good coverage of all the Happenings at SDCC so here are just a few important fact.

From the interview here it seems like the Beta could start this week. Besides that, it touches on the great news that you can play as the iconic Characters like Batman or the Joker in 2 vs. 2 games.

The preorder phase has begun as well.

The voices of the game where also revealed with many well known voice actors beeing on site. Mark Hamill will reprise his role as Joker.

We are back

After a short hiatus (very busy time for me personally) we are finally back. Unfortunatly I missed all of E3 so here are a bunch of links and infos of note.

1. The montly subscription fee will be 14.99 which is in line with the rest of the SOE games. I suspect that Station Access for 29.99 will include DCUO as well.
2. Release Date is 2. November.
3. PS3 and PC users will NOT be able to play together on one server.
